Final Examination 2006 Review
12 June, Monday

Chemistry
The de facto first subject, where most efforts meet. However, to those revised truly, the paper is easy - yet careless mistakes are frequentlymade. So, large mark difference, that determine places, will not appear in this column. The battle is yet to come.

English 1A
A paper of common knowledge. Skills and carefulness are all you need for a B.
English 1B
The first task is easy. It is fill-in-the-blanks question with longerblanks, rather than a writing task. The real challenge is Task II. Asfor Question 1, impact on you, rather than sheer comparison, isrequired. But it is not easy to figure out an idea for Q2.

Mathematics I
Q9, a question of polynomial, is often misleading - I used 35 minutes to attempt it, but failed. The questions in Section B are morecomplexed, with parts interrelated - which leads to consecutiveerror in calculation. Carefulness is extremely required, as little timeis left for you to check it throughout.
Mathematics II
Speed prevails! Usage of calculator makes great difference. Study on Additional Mathematics may help, but not much.

English 2
First three tasks are not difficult. The later three are, though called "Integration Skills", mostly copying the messages in the Data File ontoAnswer Sheet.
21 June, Wednesday
Biology
Unusual and debatable. Very minor alterations are done on past CE questions before printing off. Only 5 MCs about circulation, thelargest topic in 2nd Term. Moreover, 2 of 5 LQs had appeared in 4K and4S's Biology Test.
As of the paper, I would say a thorough revision will do everything.
22 June, Thursday

Physics
A perfect collection of past-CE questions on momentum and waves. Thank you.
Severe time panic. I doubt if this paper is for 90 minutes. Manycandidates (including me) cannot finish the paper, besides those did the past papers -somebody told me he had finished it in 40 minutes.
For preparing the CE, pastpapers do well. However, is it appropriate touse recent past-CE questions in examination, risking that some studentsmay have known even the marking scheme (as it is public) already?

Geography
As I was told before, Geography is mainly common sense. Indeed. Common sense with a little knowledge.
Different from the HKCEE, issues carries more marks than the themes. You may say it is unfair for 4S geography candidates, as issues are notyet taught to them. Someone say, paper deviated from the CE-stylecannot represent the real grade, therefore insignificant andmeaningless.
But, aren't the past questions reflect CE best?

English 3
Idioms, phrases and collocations should be used properly, or yourintended mischief will fall on you. Performance of other group memberswould affect your results heavily. Each group have a different story, and few similarities are shared between.
["Students will be proceed to the preparation room until they are toldto do so." - as written on the whiteboard today.
Question: How manygrammatical mistakes are there?]
End
P.S.: Would anybody write reviews of Economics, Principles of Accounts, CIT and History?
P.P.S.: An argument (see the comments) state that, the given values inthe past-CE questions used in the Physics paper had been altered. Therefore, those had done pastpapers did not benefit much.
P.P.P.S.: A short review about English 3 added, and thus, the time stamp is updated.
